-Our Mission -
To ensure no individual lacks access to adequate nutrition in Punjab
About
Dhan Guru Ramdas Ji Langar Sewa is a nonprofit organization which serves simple, nutritious, vegetarian meals to underserved populations which lack access to adequate nutrition. Strict rules of hygiene and cleanliness are followed when preparing the meals in two world class kitchens located in Pur Heeran, Hoshiarpur and Madhir, Sri Mukhtsar Sahib. From the kitchen, free meals are distributed via uniquely designed food trucks at various locations, primarily civil hospitals and government primary schools across Punjab, India.
Langar Sewa
Langar is a community kitchen where any individual, regardless of caste, religion, ethnicity, or economic status is served a free meal. It is a key tenet of Sikhi, and embodies the values of equality, inclusivity, and oneness of all humanity. In addition to the ideals of equality, the tradition of Langar expresses the ethics of sharing, community, inclusiveness, and oneness of all humankind.
Importance of Nutrition
Healthy, nutritious eating is essential to proper growth and development, and healthy bodily function. Bearing that in mind, we started by serving areas where proper nourishment is needed most: civil hospitals where poorer populations typically lack access to food, and government primary schools. A healthy, nutritious diet for primary school students will allow them to not only grow as healthy individuals, but also improve their cognitive function in comparison to being malnourished.
We invite you to visit our kitchen, see the impact of our work in person, and learn how you can help.
